Encounter Data Processing System Update

This is to advise EDS submitters that EDPS experienced a technical problem and required recovery efforts over the weekend.  CMS believes no reports were returned with errors during this period and that no recovery action is required by the EDS submitters; however, we wanted to make you aware of the situation.

In the course of implementing performance enhancements to improve report receipt timeliness, two database indexes unexpectedly failed, resulting in erroneous processing and a need to reprocess encounters from last week.  Restoration of the index completed on Saturday.  The system began processing at its usual hourly rate of encounters as of Sunday evening.  Enhancements continue and plans should expect to begin receiving delayed reports by week’s end.
